OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE | |
8 eggs, separated 2 2/3 c. sugar 1 lb. butter 1/2 c. half and half 3 1/2 c. flour, sifted 1 tsp. vanilla extract Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Beat egg whites; add 6 tablespoons of the sugar. After the eggs foam, continue to beat until peaks form. Set in refrigerator. Cream butter and remaining sugar. Add egg yolks, cream and flour and beat again. Add vanilla and stir. Fold in egg whites. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 2 hours at 300 degrees. Yield: 16-20 servings. |
