MARTHA'S OLD FASHIONED POUND
CAKE
 
1 lb. butter
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 lb. flour (not sifted)
1 tsp. vanilla or lemon juice or almond extract
6 eggs

Cream butter; add sugar. Take sugar from 1 pound package. Use that package to measure flour. In filling it with flour, don't sift it. Add 1 egg, then a little flour. Add another egg and more flour, until all eggs and flour are used. Then add flavoring. Put in angel food pan, well greased, or 2 large bread pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
