1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 stick butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts
1/4 c. cocoa (optional)

Mix all ingredients together, except cocoa. Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. For chocolate cookies, add cocoa to other ingredients. If desired, roll dough into long jelly like roll, refrigerate for 1 hour, then slice as you place on cookie sheet.
