1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
1 c. vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 1/2 c. flour

Cream butter, sugars and oil. Beat in next 5 ingredients in order. Stir in flour. Roll mounded teaspoonful into balls and place on cookie sheet. Flatten with a glass or dish with a pattern on the bottom dipped in white granulated or colored sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly browned.
