BROWN EDGE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla or 1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. salt

Mix as for cake. Roll into small balls. Place on cookie sheet. Press down with glass that has a flat bottom. Moisten the glass bottom a bit and then dip in granulated sugar and flatten the small balls. Watch them for they do get too brown quickly. Bake at 350 degrees. Remove carefully from pan to cool.
