GERMAN LOVE COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. each of cinnamon, cloves, allspice & nutmeg
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. grated lemon peel

Mix butter, sugar, egg and vanilla thoroughly. Stir in molasses, lemon peel and nutmeats. Blend in flour and spices. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.

Roll dough 1/4" thick on well floured board. Cut into rectangles 3"x2". Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes or until no imprint remains when lightly touched with finger.

While warm, brush cookies with lemon glaze: Blend 2 cups confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 3 teaspoons water. (If desired, a few drops of food color.) Approximately 4 dozen cookies.
