CHOW MEIN | |
MEAT: 2 lb. cubed beef 1 lb. pork steak (cut into pieces) 1 lg. onion, chopped 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/3 c. Soy sauce 1 can mushroom pieces 2 tbsp. cornstarch VEGETABLES: 1 can bean sprouts 1 sm. bunch celery NOODLES: 1-2 lg. cans Chow Mein noodles Brown meat in skillet. Turn to low and cook until tender (at least one hour). Onion and sauces, and mushrooms may be added after heat is turned down and cooked with meat. Bring bean sprouts and celery to boil in large pan with small amount of water. Add top ingredients and simmer. This recipe may be easily adapted to taste. I usually use approximately the same amount of pork as beef; also, instead of pork steak, I cube a small pork roast. You may use any size can of bean sprouts or mushrooms, and the amount of dry noodles depends upon your taste. This reheats wonderfully! |
