3 c. plain flour
2 3/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 sticks butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar, Crisco; add eggs combine dry ingredients by sifting together. Add milk, small amount at a time with dry ingredients. Bake in tube pan at 325 degrees, 1 1/2 hours. Grease pan good.

If you want to make a chocolate pound cake, add 5 tablespoons cocoa.
