FRUIT JAR BREAD 
2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2/3 c. water
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2/3 c. nuts
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

OPTIONAL FRUITS:

2 c. grated apples
1 c. coconut and 1 c. apples
2 c. mashed bananas
2 c. crushed strawberries
2 c. grated carrots
1 1/2 c. applesauce and 1/2 c. raisins
2 c. pumpkin

Cream shortening and sugar. Then add eggs, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. Then add water, nuts, and optional fruit. Pour into greased jar. Fill 1/2 full in pint jar. Bake at 325 degrees for 45-55 minutes. When done remove one at a time. Clean rim and screw lid on firmly. Yields 8 pints. Use wide mouth jar.
