BORSCHT 
1 or 2 pkgs. beef shanks (or leftover meat and bone)
2 potatoes, diced
2 c. diced carrots
1 c. celery
2 c. string beans
1 c. chopped cabbage (at the end)
1/2 c. peas (at the end)
2 bay leaves
1 lg. can tomatoes
3-4 tbsp. dill weed

CLOVES:

Cayenne to taste
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Boil meat (+12 cups water) with potatoes, tomatoes and spices 1 1/2 hours, slow boil. Remove meat if need to cut up at this time (let cool first). Cut up with bones and put back in to simmer. Add carrots, beans, celery. Simmer 1-2 hours or longer. The longer the better. 1/2 hour before serving add peas and cabbage.

(It will be fine if all is added at same time or if needed to simmer all day in crock pot. I've also done it that way.)
