MYSTERY PIE | |
This recipe is my absolute favourite. Instead of cakes for birthdays, in my family, I always bake this pie. You could substitute cinnamon for nutmeg or instant coffee to always keep it a mystery! Thanks Mom for giving me this recipe! 1 pkg. ready-made pie crusts (2 crusts) 1/4 cup dairy sour cream 4 egg whites 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 bag vanilla marshmallows 3 oz. milk cooking chocolate 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 egg Line pie pan with pie crust. Spread thick layer of sour cream along bottom and sides of crust. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Fold in sugar. Do not over beat whites. In heavy-based metal pan, melt marshmallows, chocolate and cinnamon until liquid. Add egg. Quickly pour into pan. Pour meringue on top. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until meringue is firm. Top with pie crust and sprinkle with any left over cinnamon and bake in 375°F oven or until golden and flaky on top. Submitted by: Chiffonah Lorrenzii |
