DEBI'S CUBED STEAK
This dish makes more gravy as it cooks! Goes great with mashed potatoes or rice.

cubed steaks (however many you wish to use)
Crisco shortening (amount depends on number of steaks used... original in the tub, or it does not come out as good)
flour (amount depends on number of steaks used)
salt and pepper, to taste
additional flour (for gravy)
water (enough to cover)

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Melt Crisco in pan over medium-high heat. Mix flour with salt and pepper. Dredge steaks in flour mixture, then place in pan. Brown good on both sides, and place in an oven baking dish (glass or metal)... Two layers of steaks are okay.

When all meat has been browned, put some water in the pan to get scrapings off bottom of pan, and sprinkle some additional flour in to make a gravy type mix. You do not have to do a lot... just enough to make a base. Pour over steaks in the pan. Add more water to cover, then sprinkle with flour, you do not have to do any mixing.

Cover baking dish with aluminum foil and bake at 400°F for 1 hour.
