HUNGARIAN COFFEE CAKE 
1 c. butter, creamed
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream

TOPPING:

3/4 c. chopped nuts
6 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
12 or more cherries

Add to creamed mixture the dry ingredients. Add 1 cup sour cream, blend well. Batter will be thick. Spoon 1/2 of batter in a well greased and floured tube pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of topping over batter, then add the rest of the batter and sprinkle with the rest of topping. Dot with maraschino cherries. Place in cold oven (do not preheat) at 350 degrees for one hour. Remove from pan, right side up.
