MAMA'S WORLD WAR 2 SCOTCH FRUIT
BARS
 
1 1/4 c. flour
1 c. quick rolled oats
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. mincemeat

Mix first 4 ingredients. Cut shortening into mixture until crumbly.

Spread 1/2 mixture over bottom of greased 8 x 8 inch pan. Spread with mincemeat and then remaining crumbs. Press down lightly with the back of a spoon. Slip a spatula in milk and spread lightly over crumbs.

Bake at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
