2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 tbsp. alum
2 tbsp. cooking oil
2 c. water
Food coloring

Boil water; add oil, food coloring and alum. Mix dry ingredients together. Pour the boiling mix over the dry mix, stirring with a sturdy (wood is best) spoon. When cool enough to handle knead until smooth.

Will keep 3 to 4 months if played with regularly. Store in a covered container. Don't worry Mom if play dough gets in carpet, just let dry and vacuum.
