SUGAR COOKIES 
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter (1 stick)
2 lg. eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

In a 3-quart mixing bowl, add sugar, butter and eggs. Beat well. Add vanilla and sour cream. Blend well. Add all dry ingredients to flour mixture. Add 1 cup at a time and mix well. (Flour may be added to get a firm consistency.) Chill dough 2 to 3 hours or overnight. Roll and cut cookie shapes. Bake until lightly brown on bottom. Cool and frost or sprinkle with candied sugar (prior to baking).
