BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qt. thinly sliced cucumbers
1/3 c. pickling & canning salt
6 lg. onions, sliced

Soak cucumbers and onions with salt, in ice, for 3 hours (cover good).

Mix:

3 c. white vinegar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric

Bring to boil in large pot. Add drained cucumbers and onions. Bring back to boil. Have jars ready. Pack, mixture in hot jars and seal. These stay crisp.
