LINDA'S SPICY MARBLE COFFEECAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. light molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter

Cream shortening and sugar, add egg; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Divide into 2 parts. To one part add molasses and spices; mix. Spoon batters into greased 9 x 9 x 2 pan. Zigzag spatula through batter. Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
