ICE WATER CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. water
3 1/2 c. flour
4 level tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
8 egg whites

Cream sugar and shortening. Add 1/2 cup water and 1 cup flour alternately. Ending with 1/2 cup flour and baking powder. Beat after each addition. Fold in egg whites and vanilla. Bake at 350 degrees.
