PRIZE BAKING POWDER BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 - 3/4 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Add milk all at once and stir until dough follows the fork. For drop biscuits, increase milk to one cup. Turn dough on lightly floured surface, knead gently 8 to 10 times. Roll dough 1/2" to 1" thick, cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes 16 medium sized biscuits.
