2 sticks (1/2 lb.) butter (softened) 1 pkg. dry yeast 2 egg yolks plus 1 whole egg 1/2 c. milk 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. vanilla Pinch of salt Mix all ingredients. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Roll dough in confectioners' sugar, small portion at a time to pie crust thickness or thinner. Cut into squares as desired, 3 inches or smaller. FILING: 1 1/2 c. walnuts or pecans, ground fine Sweeten to taste Add: 1 tsp. butter Enough milk to hold together Heat just long enough to melt butter and sugar. Put a small bit of filling on each square. Start in left hand corner at bottom and roll over to top right hand corner. Press together and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. |
