BRAIDED BREAD 
4 1/2 c. flour (unsifted)
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. dry yeast
1 1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. butter
1 egg white, beaten slightly

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

In large bowl, mix 3/4 cup flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast. Heat milk, water and butter to 120 degrees. Add dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Add 1/2 cup flour and beat 2 minutes. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough. On floured board, knead 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled. Punch down and divide into 6 pieces. Roll each into 12-inch rope. Braid 3 and place on grease sheet; braid 3 more and place on top of first 3. Pinch ends together. Brush with egg white. Let rise 1 hour. Bake. Remove from pan to cool.
