SPICY FRIED TOFU | |
1 1/2 lbs. firm tofu 1 tbsp. oil 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1 tsp. basil 1/2 tsp. thyme 1 tsp. ground cumin 1 tsp. curry powder 1/2 tsp. coriander Cayenne pepper to taste 3-4 lg. cloves garlic, minced 3 tbsp. tamari soy sauce 1/4 c. nutritional yeast 1/4 c. freshly grated Parmesan Drain tofu and cut into 1/2" cubes. Heat oil in skillet (preferably non-stick) and saute tofu over high heat for 5 minutes. Lower heat and add turmeric, stirring until uniformly distributed. Add basil, thyme, cumin, curry powder, coriander and cayenne and stir. Add garlic, soy sauce and yeast. Saute until golden brown. Add Parmesan cheese and saute 5 more minutes. (Serve in tacos, pita bread, sandwiches or just as is.) |
