OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sugar (1/2 brown)
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nutmeats (pecans or walnuts)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. shortening
2/3 c. sour milk
2 c. oatmeal
1 c. raisins
c. flour
1 small pkg. chocolate chips

Cover raisins with hot water; boil 1 minute and cool. Drain. Cream sugars and shortening; beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients with sour milk. Stir in oatmeal, then chopped nuts, chocolate chips and raisins.

Bake on greased cookie sheet at 325°F about 10 minutes.

For sour milk, pour 1 tablespoon vinegar into measure; fill with milk. Let stand 10 minutes.

Bake 1 cookie only first time; may need to add flour.
