BEAN SOUP 
FLAVORING:

3 beef bouillon cubes
3 tbsp. chives
2 tbsp. minced onion
1 tsp. savory
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
1 bay leaf

Use any kind of beans, etc. Divide into 6 portions.

Black turtle beans
Red kidney
Pinto (white)
Dry split yellow & green peas
1/2 pkg. lentils
1/2 pkg. barley

Wash dry beans (2 cup mixture), peas, etc. Boil in 2 quarts of water for 20 minutes. Drain this water off. Add 2 more quarts of water with package of seasoning plus 1 lb. of chopped, cubed ham. Bring to a boil; reduce to simmer for 2 hours. Next add 3 chopped carrots, 3 stalks of celery, sliced fine. Add 1 can stewed tomatoes; now simmer 2 more hours.
