SOURDOUGH BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. white sugar
3/4 c. shortening, room temperature
1 3/4 c. to 2 c. sourdough

Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and sugar into mixing bowl. Add shortening and blend with fingertips. Stir in enough sourdough to make a soft dough. Turn out on floured board. let "rest" for 5 minutes to make it easier to handle. Knead very lightly. Roll about 3/4 inch thick and cut into biscuits. Bake on a greased baking sheet about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with stew, sloppy joe filling, or with jam or honey.
