LASAGNA OLD STYLE | |
1/2 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. ground pork 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 med. onion, minced 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tsp. parsley, minced 1 1/2 oz. cans tomato paste 2 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 5 qts. water 3 tsp. salt 1 lb. lasagna (1 pkg. lasagna) 1 lb. Mozzarella cheese 3/4 lb. ricotta cheese 2 tbsp. grated Romano cheese Brown meat in oil in saucepan adding onion, garlic, and parsley. Add tomato paste, 2 cups water, and salt and pepper and simmer 1 1/2 hours. Bring 5 quarts water to boil. Add salt and lasagna (cut in half) and cook 20 minutes or until tender, stirring almost constantly to prevent sticking together. Drain. Arrange lasagna in greased casserole in layers alternating with layers of sauce, Mozzarella sliced thin and ricotta cheese last. Continue until all is used. Sprinkle with grated Romano cheese. Bake at 375 degrees uncovered about 20 minutes or until Mozzarella is melted and serve (6-8). |
