PERSIMMON NUT BREAD 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sliced dates
3/4 c. chopped nutmeats, pecans or walnuts
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sieved persimmon pulp
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. sugar (substitute 1/2 c. brown sugar if preferred)
1 tsp. lemon juice

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Toss 1/4 cup of flour mixture with dates, raisins and nutmeats. Cream shortening and spices. Gradually add sugar, beating until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
