NUT AND JAM CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. strawberry jam
1 c. seedless raisins
1 c. English walnuts, chopped

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Beat after each. Add soda to buttermilk, beat until foamy. Add to mixture, add jam, nuts, and raisins. Beat well. Sift flour and spices 3 times. Add to batter gradually, beating well. Pour batter into well-greased and floured tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until it starts pulling away from pan.
