FRENCH ONION SOUP 
4 c. thinly sliced onions
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp. butter
5 c. beef broth
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Dash of pepper
1 c. shredded Swiss cheese (4 oz.)
1/4 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
4 slices French bread, toasted

Cook onions and garlic in butter over low heat until onions are golden brown and tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Stirring occasionally, stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce and pepper; heat to boiling, reduce heat. Simmer covered 15 to 20 minutes. Combine cheeses, ladle soup into 4 ovenproof bowls, top each with 1 slice French bread. sprinkle each serving with 1/4 of cheese mixture. Place bowls on cookie sheet, broil about 4 inches from heat for 1 to 3 minutes or until cheese is light brown and bubbly. 4 servings.
