SWEET DILL PICKLES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. pickling salt
1 rounded tsp. pickling spice
Garlic
Dill
1 tsp. alum

Slice cucumbers lengthwise. Put dill and clove of garlic in bottom of jars. Pack sliced cucumbers in jars. Add 1 teaspoon alum to top of each quart jar (1/2 teaspoon to a pint).

Bring liquid to a boil and pour over pickles and seal.
