1 c. butter 2 c. granulated sugar 1 c. honey 2 c. New Orleans molasses 1 tsp. cardamon, cloves and salt each Melt above ingredients, do not boil, take off stove and blend in well, 5 eggs, 4 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 cup hot water. Stir thick with flour, it takes a lot, let husband help! Let stand a week in refrigerator. Roll out on floured surface, not too thin, like 3/8 inch thick. Cut in any desired shape. Grease and flour pans. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees (test one). When cool, frost with powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and milk glaze. let sit until frosting is set and dry. Place cookies in well sealed container, these last for months. Origin: Germany. |
