SPREAD AND CUT COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. molasses
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins or chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (opt.)
1 c. quick cooking oatmeal

Cream together the first 5 ingredients. Sift in dry ingredients. Stir in the rest. Spread in 2 narrow strips on a cookie sheet approximately 2 inches wide - 1 inch high. Bake at 350 degrees until done or lightly brown. Frost with powdered sugar frosting while warm. Slice in narrow strips diagonally.
