SWEET AND SOUR PORK | |
3/4 lb. pork or chicken, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 1 tbsp. Soy sauce 1/2 tsp. salt BATTER: 3/4 c. flour 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. water SAUCE: 1 c. water 1/3 c. dark brown sugar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 2 tbsp. cider vinegar 2 tbsp. Soy sauce 2 tbsp. ketchup 2 med. onions, cut into eights 2 med. carrots, peeled and sliced diagonally 1 green pepper, cut into 1 inch chunks 1 garlic clove, chopped 1 c. canned pineapple chunks, drained In bowl, combine pork or chicken, Soy sauce, salt. Set aside. Mix in batter and fry. Keep in warm oven. Make sauce until it thickens, stirring constantly. Set aside. Cook vegetables in 2 tablespoons oil for 2 minutes then add pineapple, cook 1 more minute. Then add sauce and meat. Serve over rice. |
