3 c. white sugar
1 c. butter, or 1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. butter
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
6 - 8 c. flour (enough to make a soft dough for rolling out)

Cream butter and sugar. Mix in sour cream. Add soda, eggs and vanilla, then flour. We use this recipe for our Christmas cookies and decorate with colored sugar or frosting.
