BROWN PAPER BAG APPLE PIE (9
INCH)
 
1 unbaked pastry shell
3 or 4 lg. apples or 7 c. packed firm, sliced
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
Juice of lemon (I use bottle lemon juice - 2 tbsp.)
1 apple core, cut in chunks (if desired)

Combine apple, sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and juice. Mix well. Put into pie shell.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour

Mix together. Sprinkle over top of apples.

Use one stick of butter and cut and dot top of pie. Place in large paper bag. Fold open end under, staple or use paper clips to seal bag. Place on large cookie sheet and bake at 425 degrees for 1 hour. Take from bag and cool.
