TWENTY MINUTE BROWNIES | |
2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 c. flour 2 eggs, unbeaten 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. angostura 3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans Melt in double boiler 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate with 1/2 cup shortening. Remove from fire. Stir in 1 cup sugar and 1 cup flour. Add 2 unbeaten eggs; beat well. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon angostura and 3/4 chopped nuts. Pour a 1/3 inch thick layer in a greased baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes in hot oven (400 degrees). The mixture will look only partially baked but will harden after it cools. Cut in squares while still warm. |
