JANET'S BEST OLD-FASHIONED APPLE PIE | |
prepared pastry for 2 crust pie (Pillsbury) 3/4 to 1 cup sugar 3 rounded tbsp. all-purpose flour 3/4 to 1 tbsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. salt 8 cups sliced tart apples 2 tbsp. butter Combine sugar, flour, spices and salt. Mix lightly through sliced apples. Heap in pastry lined pie plate. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust, crimp edges and cover with foil to prevent browning too much. Cut 4 vents in top crust. Bake in hot (450°F) oven for 50 to 60 minutes till crust is browned and apples are tender. Submitted by: Janet DeHoog |
