CORN CHOWDER 
1/4 lb. salt pork or 1/2 lb. bacon, diced
1 onion, chopped
1 chopped celery
2 c. diced potatoes
1/2 c. milk
Salt and pepper
2 c. milk
2 c. water
2 c. whole kernel corn

Fry pork or bacon in heavy kettle until lightly brown. Remove bacon; reserve 2 tablespoons drippings in kettle. Set aside.

Saute onions and celery in reserved drippings until tender. Add potatoes and water. Cover and simmer 20-30 minutes. Stir in milk, corn, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat stirring frequently until thoroughly heated.
