MUSTARD CHOW - CHOW | |
3 qt. finely chopped green tomatoes 3 qt. finely chopped onions 1 lg. head cabbage (green) 3 red & 3 green bell peppers, finely chopped Mix all chopped vegetables together well in a large enameled or glass container and add 1 gallon water, 1 cup table salt and 1 tablespoon ground ginger. Stir lightly to mix and allow to soak in this for 24 hours (cover container). After soaking cook vegetables in same water for 10 minutes after it comes to a boil. Drain in colander. DRESSING: 2 qt. regular vinegar 6 c. sugar 6 tbsp. ground turmeric powder 6 tbsp. ground mustard 2 c. self-rising flour |
