APPLE NUT BARS 
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 raw apple, chopped
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

Sift dry ingredients together and set aside. Melt butter in saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Cool slightly. Beat in egg and vanilla. Fold in flour mixture. Stir in apples and nuts. Sprinkle on topping (recipe below). Bake in greased 8"x8" square pan 30 minutes at 350 degrees. A double recipe will fill a 9"x13" pan, no need to double topping.

TOPPING:

1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts
