SHORT BREAD 
1 1/3 c. powdered sugar
1 1/2 c. butter
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter with sugar. Gradually add flour, creaming thoroughly. Add vanilla and mix well. Chill for 1 hour. Bake in 2 (9-inch) cake pans. Pat down level and punch with fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
