CHOW CHOW 
1 gal. green tomatoes
1 head cabbage
4 lg. onions
1/2 c. salt
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1 c. sugar
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 qt. vinegar
2 or 3 hot peppers, chopped

Chop tomatoes and place in a crock pot or large enamel bowl. Add 1/2 cup salt and stir. Let it sit overnight.

The next day, soak tomatoes, cabbage and onion all together for two hours. Drain off juice. Add allspice, cloves, sugar, garlic and hot peppers. Pour in vinegar and bring to a boil. Cook until the tomatoes are tender. Place the mixture in jar while hot and seal. (Taste for salt. If too salty, rinse before you place in jars.)
