1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped pecans

Blend shortening and sugars. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Sift remaining dry ingredients together; add to sugar and egg mixture. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown. Makes about 6 dozen.
