PINTO BEAN SOUP 
2 c. pinto beans
Enough ham to flavor
1/2 c. celery
1/2 c. onions

Cover ingredients above with water, let cook 1 hour. Check to see if beans are getting tender.

In a saucepan, put 1 cup of onions and saute with butter and add to beans. Add 1 large can of tomato sauce, check to see it doesn't get too thick. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano to taste. You may want to add some hot pepper. Serve with hot corn bread.
