THE BEST BERRY COBBLER 
2 c. cake flour
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. milk, divided
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. boiling water
3-4 c. berries, fresh or frozen (boysen, marion, or black berries)
1/4 c. sugar

Blend dry ingredients. Add shortening then 2/3 cup milk and vanilla, beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add rest of milk and 1 egg, beat 2 more minutes.

Pour cake batter into 9 x 13 greased pan. Sweeten berries with 1/4 cup sugar and pour over cake mix. Then pour 1 cup boiling water over berries.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until cake is golden brown.
