GERMAN RED CABBAGE 
3 tbsp. bacon drippings
6 c. shredded red cabbage
2 med. cooking apples, peeled and chopped
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/3 c. wine vinegar
1/4 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. caraway seeds
1/4 tsp. pepper

Combine all ingredients in 2 1/2 quart glass casserole. Cover with glass lid. Microwave for 8 minutes on high. Stir well and continue on high or until cabbage is tender-crisp. Let stand, covered, 2 minutes before serving. About 6 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
