FLAT BREAD 
4 c. white flour
1 c. whole wheat or graham flour
5 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 c. Crisco
Cornmeal

Combine dry ingredients. Add shortening. Then add boiling water a little at a time while stirring until you have a stiff dough. Knead a few times. Cover with a damp cloth and cool to room temperature. Roll out thin, using cornmeal with flour on pastry cloth. Bake on a hot griddle, 400 degrees or more, until lightly browned on both sides. Dry in oven on low temperature until crisp (several hours). Eat like a cracker, plain or buttered.
