PORTUGUESE SWEET BREAD 
5 lbs. flour
1 doz. eggs
1 3/4 qt. milk
2 lbs. sugar
4 envelopes yeast
2 tbsp. salt
1 1/4 sticks butter
1/2 lb. Crisco shortening

Mix yeast per directions. Melt butter and Crisco and set aside. Liquefy milk and sugar; set aside. Beat eggs with butter/Crisco mixture. Add sugar and milk mixture. Add all of this to flour and salt. Mix with fingers. Slightly thin. Add yeast and finish mixing. Let rise for 3 hours. Bake for 35 minutes at 275 degrees.
