GRANDMA JULIE'S EGG CUSTARD 
4 eggs, separated
1 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla or nutmeg
1 c. milk
1 pie shell

Mix sugar and flour. Blend well. Add melted butter, egg yolks and flavoring. Cook in double boiler until thickened, stirring constantly. Cook pie shell. Add pie filling and bake until it sets well.

Make meringue of 4 egg whites, 5 tablespoons sugar and pinch of salt. Place over baked custard and cook until lightly browned.
